Mental Health
Everyone reacts to stress and traumatic experiences differently. While some have reactions that can be seen as normal responses to life events, others may experience signs or symptoms of more serious conditions.
Mental health and substance misuse conditions can affect anyone;
you are not alone. The Military Health System has many resources available to help those who need it.
If you or someone you know needs support now, call or text 988 or chat at
988Lifeline.org. 988 connects you with a trained crisis counselor who can help.
Vandenberg Space Force Base Mental Health Services
Our facility offers the following mental health services:
- Outpatient psychotherapy
- Medication management
- Education and treatment for substance misuse
- Primary Care behavioral health
The above services are available to all active duty service members, with services offered to dependents and retirees on a space-available basis. When space is not available for dependents or retirees, care can be obtained through TRICARE-covered community providers without a referral; see below.
To access care at Vandenberg, call the main appointment line and follow the prompts to the Mental Health Clinic. One of our Mental Health Technicians will speak with you about your needs and will discuss treatment options with you.
In addition to the above mental health resources at the Mental Health Clinic, Vandenberg Space Force Base offers several other options, including the Hawk’s Cove integrated resiliency center, Military Family Life Consultants through the Military Family Readiness Center, and the chaplain corps. Our team is happy to talk with you about options and will help match you with the right type of care.
